August 24, 1933 - September 12, 2016
San Antonio, Texas | Age 83
Helen Elizabeth Cormie Ferguson was born to Scottish parents, Henry Cormie and Betty Ingram Cormie, in Birmingham, England on August 24, 1933. She passed away peacefully on September 12, 2016 at the age of 83.
Helen had many personal accomplishments during her lifetime. Helen spent her early years moving from Birmingham to Kirkcaldy, Scotland to Manchester, England. She finished her education studying at the Stretford Junior Commercial College in Manchester, England. After technical college, Helen met her husband Blandon, from Waco, Texas, who was in the Air Force and stationed in England at the time. They met in Manchester, England in June of 1951 and were married in January of 1953. Helen's life was to change massively as she moved around the world. Helen and Blandon lived in Texas, Florida, England, Japan, Germany and Missouri before settling with their four children in San Antonio to be nearer to family. After settling in San Antonio it wasn't the end of her travels: Helen also visited her sister in Australia twice and travelled back and forth to Britain to see friends & family in England and Scotland.
Helen and Blandon lived a very peaceful and loving life together for the past 63 1⁄2 years. She was very happy to keep a tidy house, collect tea kettles, make a nice cuppa, have a good laugh, travel around the world to see family and friends, and loved having her children around on all the holidays. Helen was very proud of her family and loved them all immensely and most of all she loved just being at home with her husband.
Helen was preceded in death by both her mother and father; her sister, Aileen Cormie Sephton; her sister, Kathleen Cormie Jones; and her brother, Donald Henry Cormie. She is survived by her husband, Blandon Lamond Ferguson; her son, Kerry Randall Ferguson and his wife Sheri Davis Ferguson; her son, David Lamond Ferguson and his wife Jacqueline Manwaring Ferguson; her daughter, Donna Aileen Ferguson Baker and her husband Ron Baker; her son, Craig Henry Ferguson and his husband Todd Lavoie; her sister-in-law, Jacqueline Mary Davenport Cormie; her nine grandchildren; her great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, their children, friends and family around the world.
