Obituary for Helen Toole, RN

December 31, 2019
San Antonio, Texas

God has gained an angel, Frankie Helen Toole, at the age of 76 when she was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. Born to Frank and Alice Greenfield, Helen began her earthly pilgrimage on her grandparents' farmhouse in Wann County, Oklahoma. Helen graduated from Wichita High School and in 1964, she graduated from Saint Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas. Helen met her husband-to-be, Jack Toole, in 1962 while he was on active duty in the United States Air Force and they married in Kansas on August 1, 1964. Helen worked in nursing for 35 years, mostly in the operating room as a Certified Operating Room Nurse. She was caring, loving, and a very compassionate nurse that truly cared for the well-being of every patient.

Helen is survived by her loving husband Jack Toole, of 55 years, two daughters, Cathy Kozub, and Michelle Washburn, and her son Brian Toole (Letty); eight grandchildren, and one great-grandson; her sister, Ronna Padgett. She was preceded by her parents Frank and Alice Greenfield, her sisters: Margaret, Jessie, Darlene, and Roberta. Helen so graciously was a faithful and selfless servant of God, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Retiring in 1998, Helen and her husband traveled to every state in the U.S. and took many trips in their RV including a 11,000-mile trip to Alaska in 2005. During her three different trips visiting Danali National Park in Alaska, she especially like to visit the huskies (sled dogs) and always wanted to bring one home. It was her dream to see the tulips in Holland. Her and her husband set out on a 28day back-to-back cruise to Amsterdam and the Baltics. Helen had a wonderful day at the Kenkanhof Gardens in Amsterdam, where she spent time walking through millions of beautiful tulips.
She enjoyed sewing, kitting, cross stitching, walking, and going fishing. Helen along with her husband, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and helped provide emergency relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina/Rita. Helen was a devoted, faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 40 years.
