Obituary

Maj. Jack W. Garison, USAF (Ret.), born in Buda, Texas October 6th 1933 and passed away at 84 years young on July 10th 2018. Jack graduated from Texas State with a BBA in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force after graduation. He was a pilot for Strategic Air Command serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was celebrated on a runway in Vietnam after completing 100 combat missions with champagne. He retired from the Air Force in 1973 as an instructor pilot. He returned to Texas State to finish his MBA. Jack and Millie served as presidents of the PTA and were recognized with life memberships. Jack was then employed by the state of Texas and was appointed as Texas State Commissioner of Licensing and Regulation until he retired. He then served a term as President of the Austin Retired Officer's Association. In his spare time, he loved to Golf, Fish and Hunt. Jack was preceded in death by parents, David and Annabelle Garison; sisters, Leon Howard, Alma Grizzle; and brother, David Garison. He is survived by his wife, Millie Garison; sons, Bradford (wife-Heidi) and James Garison; grandchildren-James and Haleigh Garison; nephew, Starkey Grizzle; and nieces: Pat Roberts, Gale Braune, and Sue Garison. Family was everything to Jack, he is so proud of his sons, we miss and love you…we always will… Service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 12:00pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel, Chap. Bill Jacobs will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
