James Madison Black III, age 76, was born December 1941 in Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, while his father was employed with Gulf Oil, to Antonietta Guevara and James Black Jr. James was the eldest son and had one brother, John Black. He graduated from San Marcos Baptist Academy, located in San Marcos, Texas. He attended St. Mary's University in San Antonio and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Economics.

During his collegiate years, James met the love of his life Paula Reta Rose. They were married in San Antonio, Texas on August 24, 1963. He started his career with Firestone in Akron, Ohio and Caracas, Venezuela. In 1970 he left Firestone and moved back to San Antonio TX where he founded US-VEN International in 1972 and shortly thereafter acquired Poppe Automotive Warehouse, Inc. Over the years he served on several committees within the National Parts Plus Association and earned the admiration and respect of all the members of Parts Plus. James was an astute businessman and highly respected amongst his industry peers domestically and internationally.

James and Paula have four sons; James, Paul, John and Robert. James and Paula spent much of their time taking the boys to Port Aransas, Texas to deep sea fish and going on road trips out west to California, Colorado and New Mexico. He also enjoyed taking his family on many trips to visit their cousins in Venezuela where he spent many of his adolescent years on his beloved ranch in Venezuela. James had a deep love for his boys and would do anything to support their endeavors.

He will be remembered as a great father, husband and businessman, spending most of his time with his family. His favorite pastime was telling jokes to everyone around him and spending time with his grandchildren whether it was driving with them in his John Deere tractor or sharing a meal with them.
