Janet S. "Casey" Lieberman, age 72, of San Antonio, died Monday August 16, 2004.

Born in New Orleans, LA, she grew up in New Orleans and Kansas City, MO.

She graduated from Tulane University. Before moving to San Antonio in 1953, she was the Junior Woman Amateur Golf Champion of Kansas City.

Casey was the first woman president of Temple Beth-El, President of Visiting Nurses and Hospice of South Texas and a member of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of San Antonio and South Texas, and worked for the United Way of San Antonio for over 15 years.

She expressed her creativity in many forms, most notably her passion for photography, including numerous exhibits around San Antonio.

Survivors: husband of 51 years, Ira T. Lieberman; children, Ellen Kay Lieberman, Harwood, TX, Dr. Steven Alex Lieberman, Houston, TX and Anne L. Wilson and husband, Scott, Pacifica, CA; grandchildren, 11-year old Jessica Lyn and 8-yr. old Sarina Rae.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kimmelman Childcare Scholarship Fund at Temple Beth-El or any of the organizations with which Casey was associated
