Obituary

Jay P. Tingle, 91, of San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 1, 2018.

He was born to Jay and Jesse (Rawlson) Tingle in Meridian, MS on Oct. 30, 1927.

Jay enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 where he rose to the rank of Sergeant First Class after earning his glider wings, becoming an Airborne Ranger, a member of the fledgling U.S. Army Parachute Demonstration Team (now known as the U. S. Army Golden Knights), and served a tour of combat during the Korean War until he was very seriously injured. During his long rehab he met and married Dell McBeth,the love of his life, in May 1953 and they remained together ever since. Jay led a successful career in the Personal Finance industry until finally retiring from Barclay's American Financial. He was a loving husband and devoted family man who enjoyed a number of hobbies including model aircraft construction, restoring vehicles, hunting, fishing, camping and had a passion for the American Southwest. He was a kind, patient mentor and a man of exceptional integrity.

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Marion & Shirley, and his brothers Charles & Leonard. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dell Tingle and their five children, Myron Tingle, Karen Tucker, Elaine Hughs, Dianne Tingle and Jeff Tingle, as well as his remaining brothers Milton Tingle & Wayne Tingle. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren -- plus three more on the way.

Graveside services will be held at Cypress Creek Cemetery located 7 mi. NE of Leakey, TX on US 83 on Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 11am.
