Obituary

On Saturday May 13th, our beloved Eddie was called to our Lord. Joe Edward Garcia was born on January 26, 1953, in San Antonio, TX, to the late Phillip L. and Elvira Garcia. Eddie graduated from Kennedy High School in 1972 and was an electrician by trade. From a young age Eddie was loved by everyone, he was known for his million dollar smile, his Texas twang, the smoothest Two Step in San Antonio and his signature black Stetson. A Master Electrician, he and his brother Phillip Garcia started United Electric in 1976 and for the next 40 years worked side by side building a successful and respected business.

Eddie's success in life allowed him to enjoy his many hobbies to include hunting, fishing, driving his red Corvette and riding every ride at Disneyland YEARLY. Eddie loved spending time with his grandchildren and was the first to show his grandson how to shoot like a Texan and his granddaughter how to jump into the Frio River. A Texas Peace Officer, Eddie worked as a reserve Bexar County Constable and was proud of his service.

Eddie is survived by his wife Nora Garcia, his daughter Celeste Sanchez daughter of Elizabeth Garcia, his Son-in-Law Leroy Sanchez, his step children Ashley Guzman, Joseph Mire, Nelda and Adrian Cavazos, Raul Correa, and Nancy Correa, and his grandchildren Diego Sanchez, Jacob Sanchez, Ava Cavazos, Aaron Turner, Aiden Villhauer, and Alec Barron.

Affectionately called "Chano" by his siblings, Eddie was the youngest boy of a family of eight and is survived by his brother Phillip R. and wife Elizabeth and his sisters Janie and husband Aldo, Yolanda and husband Delbert, Mary Lou and husband Frank, Dee Dee and husband Carlos, Olga and husband David and Joann and husband Sergio. Loved by his many nephews and nieces "Uncle Cordy" will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Eddie will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father and a devoted grandpa. As his daughter beautifully said, "Eddie, we hope you are kicking back with a cold beer and a smile on your ocean front property."

Services will be held this Saturday May 20th 2017, at Porter Loring Mortuary on 1101 McCullough Ave. beginning with a public viewing from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 PM.
