Joe Ray Seekamp, age 69 of San Antonio, went to join Jesus on Wednesday November 30, 2016. Joe Ray was born November 8, 1947 in Refugio, Texas to Charles and Joyce Seekamp. He graduated from Yoakum High School, Class of 1966. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin where he was a trumpet player in the Longhorn Band. Joe Ray faithfully served for 2 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he became part owner of Seekamp Construction Co., Inc. and then successfully formed his own company, Adkamp Construction in San Antonio. Joe Ray was an avid U.T. and Spurs fan. He was a 32nd degree Mason, Davy Crockett Lodge #1225, AF & AM, a member of the Alzafar Shrine and the Jesters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Sharon Seekamp; and brother, Charles H. Seekamp. Joe Ray is survived by his son, Nick Seekamp and wife Natalie and their expectant son, Ashton; brothers, Johnny Seekamp (Jean), and Craig Seekamp (Helen); numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
Service, Monday, December 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum, TX.
Masonic interment, with Military Honors will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Yoakum, Texas.
