John Edward Clifford, age 82 and fortified with the sacraments of the Church, passed into the loving arms of God the Father on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on November 21, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to Louis Clifford and Patricia Sloan. John received a B.S. from John Carroll University; a M.A. from St. Louis University, and a PH.D from Michigan State University.

John met his wife, Nancy Krupinski, at St. Louis University and they were married on July 4, 1959. Their marriage was blessed with three wonderful daughters, Bridget Marie, Christine Marie and Kathleen Marie.

John was a professor of Theater and Speech at Loras College in Dubuque Iowa and Murray Park College in Adelaide Australia. He was the Director of the Theater Department at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. John's book, Educational Theater Management was one of the first books on the subject and was published in 1972. After retirement in 1983, John started his own company, Compudance, which included the development of computer software for dance studios to manage their businesses. His business flourished in the states, Canada, Europe and Australia. He sold his company in 2007 and began his second retirement so he could devote time to relaxation, travel, and gardening.

Through this lifetime, John was involved in the Catholic Church as an altar boy, lector, Eucharistic Adorer and member of the Bible study classes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father in law; his daughter Christine, and his grandson Brett. John is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Clifford; daughter, Bridget (Brad) Sharp; daughter, Kathleen (Mike) Boucher; granddaughter, Brittney Boucher; grandson, Shane Boucher; sister, Donna O'Donnell; brother, Tom Clifford, and brother-in-law Mark Krupinski as well as many nieces and nephews. John will also be missed by his friends, neighbors, and especially his friends from the Bible Study Classes at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. John was known as Dr. Clifford to his students, Mr. Clifford or "Sir" to others, but his favorite titles were "Dad" and "Paw Paw". John was a loving husband, great father/father in law, and outstanding grandfather. May our Heavenly Father receive and reward this faithful son, John for a job well done!

The family will hold a Rosary for John at Porter Loring North on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at 6:30 P.M.

10:00 A.M.

Monsignor Mike Yarborough will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Catholic High School or Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
