Obituary

Maj. John Thomas Sweezy, USAF (ret.), age 98, passed away July 25, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Illmo, Missouri on April 29, 1919 to John and Rose Sweezy. From the time he was a little boy on a small farm in rural Missouri, his dream was to become a pilot. He continued his service in the United States Air Force as an Intelligence Officer during the Cold War period in Darmstadt, Germany. After retirement from the military, he had a successful career with Prudential Insurance Company. John had a strong sense of love, devotion and duty to his family. He gave up career advancement opportunities for the sake of his family's welfare.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 years, Klare C. Sweezy and 4 sisters. John is survived by his son, John L. Sweezy; grandchildren, Kristin Sweezy, Kyle Sweezy and his wife Fiorella; great-grandchildren, Isaac Sweezy and Matthew Sweezy; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Sweezy; and dear family friends, Diane and Frank Blizzard.
