Johnnie Richard Wimpy, Jr. was born on November 4, 1938 in Tunnel Hill, Georgia. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on May 5, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas after a long battle with cancer.

As a young boy, he lived in Tunnel Hill and attended a very small school that held all twelve grades. He and his family moved to Nashville, Tennessee when he was about ten. He joined the Army in 1955 and spent three years in service. He married Mary Francis Cavendar and had a beautiful little girl, Johnnie Belinda. The marriage only lasted a few years. In 1961, he joined the Air Force and in 1964, after returning from Vietnam, he was stationed at Hastings, Nebraska at a radar site. There he met Carol Ellermeier and they were married on March 7, 1965. She had a young daughter, Shawna from a previous marriage who Johnnie adopted. On December 24, 1966, a son, Michael William was born making this a genuine yours, mine and ours family. Johnnie was a true patriot who's military and civil service career extended over 42 years.
