Obituary

"A light from our household is gone. A voice we loved is stilled. A place is vacant in our hearts, which never can be filled."
Johnny Woodson Johnson, age 71, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on February 26, 2018, in Boerne, Texas. He was born on November 27, 1946, in Ft. Lee, Virginia to Leonard M. Johnson and Conchita Arroyo Gonzalez Johnson. Johnny's early years were spent in Japan where he attended elementary school. He graduated from Lee High School in 1965. He attended San Antonio College and received his Associate's degree. He served in the US Army in Vietnam as a Crew Chief and was honorably discharged on February 1969. Johnny retired from USAA after 38 years. During that time, he also served in the National Guard. He attended OCS (Officer Candidate School) and flight school at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, where he graduated as a 1st Lieutenant, and as a Huey Pilot. After retirement, he joined Boerne ISD, and served as a devoted school bus driver for 11 years. He loved his time spent with fellow bus drivers whom he respected, and his cherished bus children whom he cared for deeply. Johnny was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa. He was generous, kind, and loving to his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Conchita; his sister Nellie Ann Clayton; and nephew, Kevin Shields. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Arlene; his loving children: son, Justin Brent Johnson, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Ann; daughter, Jordan Courtney Johnson; and son, Jarrett Blake Johnson. He will miss giving loving kisses and hugs to his precious granddaughters, McKenna Isabel Johnson, and Sinclair Cruz Johnson. He is survived by brothers Kenneth Johnson and wife Rhonda, and Michael Johnson and wife Kathy. He will be missed by his loving nephew and godson, Travis C. Reigrut, and loving niece and goddaughter, Lindsay N. Reigrut. Johnny's family would like to express gratitude to the staff from Guiding Light Hospice and Dr. Vijay Gunuganti, Texas Oncology San Antonio Stone Oak. Special thanks to Guiding Light Hospice Nurse, Ruben Avery, who lovingly helped guide us through those last hours.
