... a legacy of love, laughter, generosity and strength ...

Jose R. Gomez, aged 63, passed away with his family by his side on February 27, 2019. Although he has gone too soon, he left behind a legacy of love, laughter, generosity and strength everyone will remember him by.

He was a man of many accomplishments, but also a man of many names including Joe, Papa (our personal favorite), Dad, Grandpa, Cuate, Rafael, and many more. His strong presence, passion and sense of humor allowed him to grow an impressively large circle of lifelong friends and an even bigger family.

Being one of 10 siblings from his father Jose Maria Gomez Tovar and mother Gloria Duran, Joe had 7 children of his own. He was always very proud of his 4 strong Gomez men, and 3 beautiful princesses (as he would often say); Josette, Tony, Erik, Vica, Jose Rafael (Jr.), Osso and Victoria.

Joe equally loved spending time with his 6 grandchildren. He was an extremely devoted father who always made sure his kids had a good time. Whether that meant trips to Disneyland where he would whisper in our ears to stand on our tippy-toes to get on rides, or attempted home-cooked meals with questionable looking, but good-tasting, rice.

Undeniably, Joe achieved a multitude of accomplishments in both his personal and professional life. Although nothing can compare to his love and devotion in raising his family, he experienced many successes throughout his career. At the age of 18, he spent 8 years in the US Army working with tanks and even being stationed in Germany for a period of time.

He was extremely charismatic and an excellent sales professional becoming the top salesperson in leading television networks in both California and Texas. He even made a few occasional appearances on commercials and couldn't help but get a kick out of it when he would get recognized in public; it goes to show that his strong personality could even shine through a TV screen!

It's safe to say that Joe led a fulfilling life with an adoring family, caring friends and exciting adventures. He was a loving and devoted husband to Rosalinda, father, grandfather, son, uncle, brother, cousin and friend.

He has not left us, but has instead filled us all with his memory that we will cherish and celebrate always and forever.

We will all miss and love him very much.
