Joseph B. Wratten Jr. peacefully went to be with the Lord at the age of 92 in San Antonio, TX. Joe was loved by all of his family including his children, grandchildren and great grandson.

He was born in Mt. Vernon, AL to Joseph B. Wratten Sr. and Mildred Lewis. Joe is from a family of 9 children and had 5 sisters and 3 brothers. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and made it a point to call write and visit all of his relatives.
A devoted Catholic; Joseph met Florence T. Talbot when they were attending high school in Washington, DC. They married after a 7 year courtship and together raised 6 children.

Joseph proudly served our country as a pilot for the U.S. Air Force for 25 years. His service spanned 3 major conflicts, including WWII, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. While serving in Vietnam, Joe was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Bronze Star Joe began his career as a pilot starting with bombers, then fighters, and ending with planes used for spotting enemy troops. Towards the end of his military career he focused on the next generation of military officers with assignments at the Air Force Officers Training School and the Air War College.
Joe was an avid golfer and when able played daily. He loved to swim as well and attended the University of North Carolina on a swimming scholarship. He received a degree in accounting and after his Air Force career used those skills in several companies in the Rio Grande Valley.
Joe was also a world traveler. During his military career and in retirement he was able to see most of the world, but he always looked forward to a vacation in Branson, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph B. Wratten Sr. and Mildred Lewis, his wife of 39 years Florence T. Wratten, his son Joseph B. Wratten III, his sister Barbara, and his brothers James, Edward and Albert Wratten. He is survived by his children, Carol Wratten (Paul T Philippus III), Theresa Gernentz (Lee), James Wratten, Mary Wratten (Robert Rodriguez), and Laura Marshall (Wade), His great grandson Michael Joseph Philippus, his grandchildren, Rob Clayton, Joseph Gernentz (Terra), Paul Philippus (Jacki), Mike Philippus (Sarah Geralds), Jacob Gernentz (Kayla Atkinson), Erin Carr (Ben), Kelly Marshall and his sisters, Merle Marsh, Mildred Tall, Norma Jean Libert and Edna Campbell.

Joseph was dearly loved and will be missed by all that knew him.
