Obituary

June Marie Fuschich (nee Adams), born in Bedford England, passed away at the age of 91.

An aspiring nurse during the London blitz of WWII, she went on ambulance runs to assist the wounded. Circumstances, however, interrupted her nursing education.

June met the love of her life John A. Fuschich, Jr. while he was stationed overseas in the U.S. Air Force. After several assignments (including tours in Greece and Japan), they settled in San Antonio.

Raising nine children, she found herself embracing such worthwhile endeavors as Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, and swim meet judge for school and special Olympics. Her passion for animals resulted in rescuing many strays and once giving asylum to an injured skunk.

A consummate storyteller, June's children fondly recall her stories about "Ernie the Earwig" and other fanciful tales. On long road trips, she loved to play games ("I Spy") and conduct sing-a-longs ("Paddy McGinty's Goat", "Kukaburra", "The Quartermaster's Store"); a tradition that has been passed down through the family's generations.

She had many interests including: gardening, ceramics, estate sales and auctions, and writing poetry ("An Ode to A Sunflower"; "Tokyo by Twilight"). June's winning entry in a Chef Boyardee slogan contest advertising their newest product, Beefaroni – "Just heat and eat, it can't be beat" – won her an all-expense paid trip for two to Rome.

Her volunteer activities included the Saint Vincent De Paul Society, SAMM Shelter and Methodist Hospital Blue Bird Auxiliary – while serving as its historian, she was recognized for her award-winning scrapbook. Her professional pursuits included working at Santa Rosa Hospital as ER registrar and later as a Real Estate Broker.

June is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, John, and her grandsons Gabriel J. Fuschich and Stephen W. Hall, Jr.

She is survived by her children: Irene Hall (Stephen), John Fuschich, III (Tracey), David Fuschich, Carol Dawson (Gregory), Dianne Warner (Steven), Sharon Barch (John), Marie Marshall (Deane), Peter Fuschich and Paul Fuschich (Amy); 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and various other relatives and dear friends.

June lived a life extraordinaire and will be remembered for her generous heart, spunk, spirit and style. She lives on in the hearts and minds of those who were privileged to know and love her. A devout Catholic with a special reverence for the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary, all draw comfort in knowing that she is at peace and has been reunited with her husband in the love, light and grace of God's presence.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2018, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
