Obituary for Mr. Justin James Jewell

December 28, 1994 - July 10, 2017
Faitr Oaks Ranch, Texas | Age 22

Justin James Jewell, age 22, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas. Justin was born December 28, 1994 in San Diego, California, to Steven James Jewell and Jammie Lee Hannah-Jewell. Justin, never letting his disability overcome his desires and dreams, became a member of the Clark H.S. AFJROTC.
After convincing them to accept him, he became a devoted member for 4 years, earning the rank of Captain. He attended and graduated from Clark High School in San Antonio, Texas. Justin participated actively in the Special Olympics where several members of the Clark HS football team participated as his assistant in each of the events throughout the years. He loved baseball and football including the Clark Cougars, UT Longhorns, Texas Rangers, Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. His dream was to attend the Naval Academy and return there to teach military history and naval warfare. Go Navy, Beat Army!

Justin never allowed his wheelchair to define his life. His greatest adventures included his annual C.A.M.P. camp experience where he rode horses, swam, canoed, and held many of his favorite reptiles. These activities superceded any mobility incapabilities and provided him the opportunity to be a child. He looked forward every year to this week-long experience. He was fond of taking vacations throughout the United States and enjoyed everything those sites had to offer. He was an avid tourist. His most memorable trip was to Washington, D.C. as part of Make-A-Wish Foundation. This trip has been the most talked about and reminisced adventure of his life. Including his Presidential Limousine ride with the Secret Service. His high school graduation was a Caribbean cruise where he found his love for gambling! Which was repeated for his 21st birthday. Other adventures included going to Disneyland in Florida and taking a drive to San Diego, California. Justin was born in San Diego. His family was transferred to the Naval War College in Middleton, Rhode Island two months after his birth. Even so, Justin always considered San Diego is hometown. Justin asked to be returned to San Diego and other locations he had on his wish list.

Justin was preceded in death by his grandmother Karen Hannah, great-uncle "Gruncle" Mark Hannah, and great-grandmother Dottie Hannah, grandfather Micheal Holly Jewell, and great-grandparents Clarence and Esther Pille.

Justin is survived by; his father, Steven J. Jewell; mother, Jammie Lee Hannah-Jewell; grandparents, Chad & Barbara Hannah; grandmother MaryHelen Jewell; uncle, Kevin and Trish Jewell, uncle Jeff Jewell; cousins Tyler Jewell and Austin Jewell; his best friend and the sister he always wanted Whitney Aldrich, aunt Kim and Larry Helmle; aunt Sooz and Marty Fahnke and their children Nick, Noah, Ian, Maya (Christopher) & their daughter Olive Martinkus.
