Obituary

Karen Marie May, age 77, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on June 27, 2018. She was born June 25, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Herbert Allen and Madelyn Kilhorn Holzhaus. Karen graduated from Providence High School in 1958. She married the love of her life, Richard, in 1960 and dedicated her life to their marriage and raising three wonderful children.

Once her youngest son started school, she began attending college part time and proudly received a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1986. Karen was an active Lifetime Member of the Auxiliary of St. Peter – St. Joseph Children's Home and was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in San Antonio. She loved the Spurs and Aggie sports, dining out with friends, talking on the phone and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and grandson, Billy Sykes. Karen is survived by two sons, Gerald May and Dr. Gregory May and wife, Dr. Elise May; daughter, Janelle Sykes and husband, Bill Sykes; five grandchildren, Alycia DeGrazia, Brianna May, Bobby Sykes, Calvin Sykes and Cauy Roe; sister, Sharon Farnham and her long-time companion, George Mahaffey and numerous nieces and nephews.
