Katherine Elizabeth (Betty) Cermin, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away on October 28, 2018. She was born on November 25, 1931, to Benjamin Talbert and Marie Henderson Scarborough and lived in San Antonio her entire life. She attended Hot Wells High School where she met her future husband Rudolph Cermin. They were married for fifty-three years and blessed with three daughters. After completing high school, Betty attended San Antonio College and then earned a degree in education at Trinity University, all while raising three young girls. Betty was a beloved teacher at Inez Foster Elementary School for twenty-nine years and during that time touched the lives of hundreds of children. A lifetime member of Crestholme Presbyterian Church, she held a special devotion to children's ministry, which was a precious part of her life. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Delta Kappa Gamma, San Antonio Retired Teachers Association, Opti-Mrs. Club, the Executive Wives Club, and a Lifetime Member of the PTA.
Betty loved traveling, working in her yard, and visiting with friends, family, and neighbors. Affectionately known as Mimi, she was always devoted, first and foremost, to her family. Lovingly involved in her children's and grandchildren's lives, she leaves them with cherished memories. She also had a special bond with her furry companion, Mia.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Temple (Mark), Connie Shepherd (Larry), and Joyce Meyer (Mark) and her seven grandchildren, Scott Temple (Amy), Stephanie Boothby (Brad), Matthew Shepherd (Michelle), Benjamin Shepherd (Lauren), Sarah Katherine O'Rear (Joshua), Patrick Meyer (Katelyn) and Julianna Crain (Trey). She is also survived by her sister Joyce Moore, brother-in-law John Cermin, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
