Obituary for Mr. La Count "J" Green

July 31, 1965 - June 13, 2018
San Antonio, Texas | Age 52

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, La Count "J" Green, husband, son, grandson, brother, uncle and loving friend, went to be with our Lord and Savior at the age of 52 years.
A native to Fort Worth, LaCount truly lived life with a genuine sense of joy and generosity that can rarely, if ever, be rivaled. His affection and loving spirit towards others followed him throughout his life. He joined the United States Navy in 1985 and served as a Cryptologic Technician (Technical) for five years until 1990. After his brief time with the Navy, and wanting to continue devoting his time to others, LaCount became a police officer with the Virginia Beach Police Department in 1992. He would go on to spend the next four years of his life on bike patrol protecting and promoting public good. In 1996 LaCount made his final move to San Antonio. He worked for the District Attorney's office as a criminal investigator from 2001-2010 and was currently dedicating his free time working for Goodwill at the Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Beyond the public good and local volunteer work LaCount would frequently take part in, perhaps his most selfless contributions to the world, contributions and volunteer experience that can only be achieved with the bona fide sense of selflessness that rare individuals like LaCount exemplified, are better demonstrated through his missionary work. It just wasn't enough for LaCount to volunteer at the same Christian Resources Center every Saturday for two years in a row, distributing staple goods to countless families for hours at a time, he expected more of himself. He actualized his passion for helping others, as well as the standards he set for himself, through his overseas missionary trips to Russian orphanages where he would spend weeks mentoring, listening, and caring for the children.
He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Melissa Perales Green; mother, Sandra Green; spiritual mother and her husband, Mary Jane Tasker and David Tasker; his two sisters, Rosalind Green and Heather Tasker; his two brothers and their wives, Eric and Stephanie Green and Chris and Shannon Green; friends, Clayton and Pam Whitfield and Paul Barnett; his grandparents, Irene White and Carrie Watts; his sister-in-law and husband, Jennifer and Patrick Castillo; his in-laws, Ramon and Aurora Perales; 11 nieces and nephews; and countless other extended family members and longtime friends. LaCount was predeceased by his father, George Green, and grandfather, Lenwood White.
A visitation (closed casket) will be held for friends and extended family members on Tuesday, June 26 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604.
A Celebration of LaCount's life will be held at 12 pm, on Wednesday, June 27, at the Community Bible Church, 2477 North Loop 1604. LaCount's celebration of life will be followed by an interment with Retiree Honor Burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, at 1:45 pm.
