Obituary

Laura Ann Corso went to be with Our Lord on Monday, May 27th, 2019 at the age of 41. She was afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis at 30 and spent eleven years battling its horrible affects. Laura underwent numerous surgeries over the last year and after complications from the last two this May, she went to be with the Lord and be whole and pain free.

Laura was born on November 28, 1977, in Huntington, New York to Anita (Corso) Lunde and her then husband. Laura has always been a free spirit who loved art and writing poetry. She was the niece of the late beat generation poet, Gregory Corso, and came by her talent naturally. Laura also loved swimming and was a graceful and beautiful swimmer from the age of four when she competed and won for her age group. She also loved cats, bears, peacocks, dragonflies, and most importantly, family.

Laura spent the first two years of her life in Farmingville, NY. She moved with her family to San Antonio, Texas, and attended Stahl Elementary, Bradley Middle School, and MacArthur High School. She dabbled in many occupations but her love of writing was her passion. Since that was not a viable occupation, she took to baking. She was skilled and loved to bake landing a job in Austin and then in Frisco, TX where her family had moved.

After Laura was diagnosed with MS she moved to Seward, Alaska. She met a young man, Robert. Laura loved Alaska, however, with her worsening MS, they moved to Sacramento, CA, where Laura remained until April 2017 when her family raised enough money through Go Fund Me to bring Laura home to San Antonio.

Laura spent the last eight months of her life at The Heights of Bulverde where she was editor of the monthly newsletter, contributing articles and her poetry. She was loved by so many of the staff and residents.

Laura had the most exciting experience of her life when she was interviewed for an article in the San Antonio Express-News. On September 11, 2018 the full page article "Using Poetry to Ease Her Pain" was published. Laura was very proud as were all her family and friends.

Laura is preceded in death by her grandparents, Marie and Frank Vasi; and her aunt, Italia Santoro.

Laura is survived by her mother, Anita Lunde; her stepfather, Charles Lunde; her brother Richard (Rick) Corso and his fiancé, Jacquelyn (Jacque) James; stepbrother, Christopher Lunde and his fiancé, Leilani Caliguiran; her nephew, Colton Corso and his wife Jasmine Corso; uncle, Salvatore Vasi, his wife, Joann and their two children Jennifer and Jessica; Robert Wilson, her long-time significant other; and many friends from Northern Hills UMC and The Heights of Bulverde – especially Rosetta Conrey, her roommate and guardian angel.

Laura will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She had spirit, compassion, and a love for family and friends.
