Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" Pearlstone, son of the late Paul and Goldye Cohen Pearlstone passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Born in St. Louis, his family moved to San Antonio in 1939 partly in hopes of "an allergy free environment" as our city was known at that time.

Larry attended Keystone Academy, San Antonio Academy and San Marcos Academy. His hobby became his profession. His architectural photos have been published in many national and trade publications. At the age of ten, Larry was the founder of the Terrell Hills News. Neighbors bought subscriptions and told him of family news. Some even called if their deliveries were late. His newspaper was published on his mimeograph machine in the family's garage on Charles Road.

Mr. Pearlstone was credited by Bob Boyd of the Express News as the director of the Jaycee sponsored Junior Golf Association of South Texas. "Larry has pushed and pushed the JGAST program until it now includes hundreds of boys and girls who might never have become involved in an organized golf program…"

Music was also his passion. With his press pass in tow, he was welcomed backstage at leading performances throughout the United States. His 2500 (plus) record collection contained signed covers of leading symphony and opera performers. Larry was also a Deejay for years on a local weekly classical music station.

Larry is survived by his sister, Judy Palans (Seymour), his nephew David Palans (Karen), Melany Palans, nephews Brian Palans (Jessica), Jacob and Garrett Palans and niece Leslie Palans.

He is preceded in death by his nephew Steven Palans.

His life will be remembered for his generous spirit and optimism in spite of autistic difficulties.

A private interment will be held at Temple Beth-El Cemetery on Austin Highway.

Should you wish to honor his life, contributions may be made to Temple Beth-El, 211 Belknap Place, San Antonio, TX, 78212 or Charity of your choice.

Services Will Be Private
