Leonard Rene St. Germain, 80, passed away on Saturday, April 28th at home in San Antonio, TX. Len was born on December 3, 1937 in St. Anne's, Manitoba Canada to Lucien and Louise (Benoit) St. Germain. As a child he lived in St. Anne's and the St. Vital area.
He lived in Winnipeg, Canada. His first job was a bicycle courier then attended school to become an upholsterer and worked for Simmons Manufacturing. He then drove taxi and later owned two taxi cabs.
He moved to Lac du Bonnet in the 1980's. There he took over a Paper Route for the Lake Cottage Community. Len enjoyed life. He loved animals, fishing, camping, traveling and was known for his spur of the moment trips. He kept busy with his yard and garden and loved nature. He was also an avid mushroom and blueberry picker. In 2009, he met Judy, and their dual-country love affair began. Every six months they would move their residence from Lac du Bonnet to San Antonio and back again. They would enjoy delivering Meals on Wheels together and visiting with the people. They had a commitment ceremony in 2011 and in 2015, they permanently moved to San Antonio and married on November 3, 2015.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jerry. Len is survived by his wife Judith (Peterson) of the home, daughter Linda (Patrick) Tedford, Somerville, TN, and a step-son Darryl (Nancy) Peterson, Junction City, KS.
Memorial service will be held, Wednesday, May 2, 10:30 am at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel (Fetter Hall). 504 Avenue E, San Antonio, TX 78215.
