Obituary

Letha Haynie Chandler passed away peacefully on August 17, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on February 3, 1930, to Bazzie and Lerline Ortner Haynie in Aubrey, Texas, and spent most of her life in San Antonio. After raising five children, Letha began working at Alamo Savings in customer service helping customers with their CD accounts. During this time, she attended San Antonio College and earned her Associate Degree in Business. She was working with the Alamo Heights branch as Manager when Alamo Savings closed. After her retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively. She had a constant faith in God making many friends as she worshipped in several denominations at several churches over the years. Her personality and charm made impressions that have been with her for years.

Her husband, James Chandler, preceded her in death as did her sister, Lona Frazier. She is survived by her sons, Howard Smith (Michelle) of Seguin, Texas; Lee Smith (Vickie) of Whitney, Texas; and Michael Smith (Michele) of Phoenix, Arizona and daughters, Tammy Smith of Denver, Colorado and Amy Boubel (David) of Boerne, Texas. Grandchildren include Leslie Wood, Jolynn Ledgerwood (David), Dr. LynnLee Garza (Mike), Dr. Lane Smith (Jennifer), Cortney Ellish (Jeff), Christopher Smith (Sabrina), and Aubrey Buzek, and 16 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Wednesday, September 5th at 3 pm at Porter Loring North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East at Gold Canyon Drive, San Antonio. For personal acknowledgments you may sign the on-line guest book at Porterloring.com.
