Obituary

Leticia "Tish" Eguia Segui was born into a large and loving family on April 25, 1955 to Petro and Alice Eguia in San Antonio, TX. As one of six siblings, she quickly made her strength and determination known to those around her. She graduated from The University of Texas - San Antonio and worked in various management roles for the Veterans Affairs Hospital System for over 38 years before retiring in 2017. Her loyalty and hard work were recognized by everyone who worked with her.

Tish was not only a successful health care professional, but also a faithful friend and sister. She was the life of many parties and never met a stranger. If you met her you loved her, and she loved you. Tish could often be found on the golf course, at dinner with friends, her weekly bible study, zumba, or planning the next large-family gathering months in advance.

Her proudest roles, however, were those of "Mom," "Gammy," and the "Fun Aunt" to her children, grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She answered every call and text with her trademark "Hey Sweetie." Full of laughter and fun, she was always available to spend time with those she loved, making memories we will cherish forever.

Despite her cancer diagnosis, her marked strength and determination remained until the very end. Thanks to her medical background, her unwavering Faith in God, and the love and support of her many family and friends, she was able to fight cancer for three incredible years - inspiring everyone around her. She passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019, in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by her loving family.

Tish was preceded in death by her parents Petro and Alice Eguia and her brother Charles Eguia. She is survived by her brother Tony Eguia and his wife Anne; her sisters Mary Honeywell, Sylvia Stutts and her husband Shields, Michelle Lawton and her husband Dave; her sister-in-law Toni Eguia; her son, Marcus Segui; her daughter Monica McKinney and her husband Andrew; her beloved grandchildren Eleanor, Beck and Max McKinney; and her 12 nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
