Obituary

Linda Eubank Tisdale, age 92, passed away on January 2, 2019, after a brief hospitalization. .

Linda was born February 12, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio to Eugene Lowry Eubank, a pioneering Army Air Corps pilot, and Helen Kelly Eubank. After multiple moves as an Army Air Corps daughter including New Mexico, Seattle, Orlando, and Washington DC, she graduated from Vassar College and joined her parents at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, where her father was in command. There she met her future husband, Captain Pierre A. Tisdale in 1946. They were married at West Point, New York in 1948.

Linda completed an MSW degree through the University of Oklahoma extension program while the family was stationed at Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, in 1969. During this time she also volunteered with the Officers' Wives Club and served on the regional Girl Scout Council, all while shepherding 4 diverse children through three different schools. Upon reassignment from Libya, the family again settled in Satellite Beach, Florida, from 1976 to 2001. She served on the Satellite Beach City Council, and was elected mayor of Satellite Beach from 1991 to 1994. With her husband, she moved to Blue Skies of Texas West (Air Force Village II) in 2001, where she lived until her death. She was proud to serve on the AFV/BSW Residents' Council as representative and as Council Parliamentarian, where she never hesitated to firmly rule an unruly speaker "out of order"!

Linda was a life member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), joining the San Antonio branch in 2001 and subsequently serving on the board and in several offices in the Branch. She was past president of the Florida AAUW branch from 1984-1988 and anchored an AAUW/LAF fellowship/endowment, The Tisdale Fellowship to attend the Institute on Business and Government Affairs (IBGA). She traveled to China and South Africa as an AAUW representative.

She was proud to be one of the first legacy members of the Order of Daedalions through her father, who was a founding member, General Eugene Eubank.

Linda joined the Rotary Club of San Antonio West on September 11, 2001 serving in many leadership positions. She had a passion for the international humanitarian programs of Rotary and was recognized as a multiple Paul Harris Fellow for her financial contributions. While club president in 2004-2005, she developed a project for an eye clinic in Mexico that provided cornea transplant surgery for indigent people. Throughout her Rotary years she was a devoted volunteer with the Jerry Allen Elementary School— serving on the school's Advisory Board, reading in classrooms, providing school supplies for needy students and rallying support from Rotarians and neighbors alike. She very much epitomized Rotary's motto of Service Above Self.

Linda was an avid and skillful bridge player, and a serious crossword puzzle solver. Her surgeon commented "She is a woman who makes her own decisions in her own time."

She was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col Pierre A. Tisdale in 2012 and her daughter, Mary Tisdale Price in 2016. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Tisdale of San Antonio; sons, David Eubank Tisdale of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Stephen Eubank Tisdale of Satellite Beach, Florida; daughter-in-law Theresa Tisdale; son-in-law David Price; grandsons, Clifford Eubank Tisdale and Melanie Tisdale and Eugene Eubank Tisdale of Melbourne, Florida and Pete Eubank Tisdale of Jacksonville, Florida and Samantha Tisdale of Jacksonville, Florida;; and great-granddaughters, Justice Marie and Kaya Linda Tisdale of Melbourne Florida.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Patrick Peters and the staffs of the The Vista Health Care Center and AA Care Service, especially Bielkis Tejada -Sosa, Ida Duarte and Janet Polendo.
