Obituary for Lu Leonard

July 15, 1968 - July 8, 2020
San Antonio, Texas | Age 51

Lu Leonard, age 51, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on July 15, 1968 to Angelita and Javier Reyes.
Lu was born in San Antonio, Texas, moved to Germany for a little while, and eventually moved back to Texas. She loved music of all kinds and greatly enjoyed dancing. She was a loyal Spurs and Cowboys fan, but not only a sports fan, she was also an athlete and especially good at volleyball. She liked books and poetry and would take joy in writing poetry too. She could get really into Sci-Fi movies and True Crime films. She enjoyed cooking, there was always a home-cooked meal growing up. You could say she was a fan of the arts. Eventually, she found an interest in throwing darts and became an avid pool player, rising to the challenge against any competition. Lu enjoyed travelling in general, but quite enjoyed Las Vegas. Her favorite things in Vegas were the shows: Cirque du Soleil (she saw almost all of them), Jabbawockeez, Bellagio Water Show, etc. Lu was a "family first" type of woman. She enjoyed family gatherings and being surrounded by loved ones. She made a lot of great friends and memories: from going out on the town for fiesta to taking a trip on a cruise, she surrounded herself with love. She was a hard-working and dedicated woman, in her job, in her school, and in her home. Lu was adventurous and was never one to shy away from an obstacle and was pursuing her college degree in the IT world. At her job, she was an Information Technology Specialist working on the Platform Team in the Technology Solutions Division, ie, she was one smart cookie. Lu had a lasting impression on the lives she's touched with her positive energy, bright smile, and loving aura. She'd give the best hugs and would take time out of her day to be there for the ones she loved, and even people she didn't know, just because it was the good thing to do. She will be remembered and missed by many, because she has left a memory in the heart of every person she's encountered.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jose M. Reyes. Lu is survived by her daughter, Marissa D. Leonard; son, Joe D. Leonard; brother, Richard S. Huerta and wife Cindy; brother, Javier Reyes Jr. and wife Yanka; sister, Rosalinda R. Scott and husband Scotty; brother, Emilio H. Reyes and wife Marina; brother, Samuel H. Reyes and wife Melisa.
