Obituary

Marcia Hanson passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her home in San Antonio, Texas, succumbing to health issues that accumulated following an ablation-gone-bad in late 2007. She was born in Key West, Florida, into a military family that later resided in Virginia and California.
She graduated from Coronado (CA) High School and with honors from San Diego State University. A first marriage ended when her husband died suddenly of cancer. She met her second husband, Bill Hanson, to whom she would be married for 36 years, when both were employed by the pro soccer team San Diego Sockers of the North American Soccer League. Marcia was the Ticket Manager and the first female ticket manager of a professional sports team in the U.S. Their daughter, Katherine, was born in 1984.
The family moved to San Antonio in 1985 and Marcia was a stay-at-home mom for Katherine prior to entering nursing school. Between 1984 and 1991 she worked with several community service organizations, to include: Official Hostess at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, Tour and Outreach Docent at the University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures, Member Board of Directors of the San Antonio Cradle Society, Director of Ticket Operations for the 1989 AAU Junior Olympic Games and with the American Red Cross at Brooke Army Medical Center.
In 1991 Marcia returned to school and would, in 1994, earn her Bachelor of Science, Nursing, from the UT Health Science Center. After a year with the Baptist Hospital System, she moved into Home Health where she would work until her cardiac incident in November, 2007.
She enjoyed ocean cruises, taking them before and during her marriage, to include a honeymoon cruise. The couple also enjoyed trips to Vermont where they spent summers following Bill's retirement in 2013.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Bill, of San Antonio; daughter, Katherine, of Rutledge, Missouri; and faithful fur baby companion, Ana.
A graveside service will be held at the Hanson family plot in St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
