Obituary

Margaret (Peggy) Aldridge Houck, 92, of San Antonio Texas passed away April 5, 2018 at home with her family and beloved dogs, Mandy and Fritz by her side. Born August 13, 1925 in Bryan, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Ernest Aldridge and Beatrix Pearl Kinloch.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Rodney Houck, Lt. Col, USAF (Ret) and two brothers, Edwin Ernest Aldridge and Herbert James Aldridge.

Margaret graduated from Alamo Heights High School in 1942 and attended Stephens College in Missouri. As the daughter of an army officer and wife of an air force officer, she lived all over the world including the Philippines, Newfoundland, Turkey and Germany. Always involved in the community she served as a 1960 USA census taker, school crossing guard, Girl Scout troop leader and Red Cross volunteer. She spent many happy years walking the family dachshund(s) in McAllister Park with the McAllister Dog Owners Group (MADOG). An avid reader, baker, gardener, bird and wild life lover, Margaret was always eager to learn and enjoy new experiences. A loyal friend to many, her cheerful resilient nature and quiet strength will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a son James Rodney Houck and wife Anne Pscheid; a daughter Janet Houck Sims; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 PM Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
