Beloved Mother

Obituary

Margarita Morales Pedraza, our beloved mother, was accompanied by angels into Heaven on
April 3, 2018 at the age of 91. Born on September 30, 1926, to Pablo Morales and Anita Hamilton, Margarita grew up on Guadalupe Street in west side San Antonio during the Great Depression and World War II. Her family ran a tailor shop and housed a neighborhood fruit stand in order to support nine children. Margarita attended Lanier High School and went to work to support her mother and younger sister during World War II. She worked at South Kelly Field and Lackland Tailor Shops as a seamstress and cashier, at Normoyle Air Base as a storekeeper, and at Eskay Factory as an inspector. She married her love Roberto S. Pedraza after he returned from his U.S. Navy and South Pacific assignments in 1946 and dedicated herself to raising their 4 children alone after he passed away in 1961. She instilled faith, hard work, service to community and country, proper planning and organization, plus strict morals and values for her children. Margarita loved beautiful clothes and shoes, make-up and jewelry, music and dancing, picnics, and family celebrations. She had a green thumb and raised roses, irises, gardenias, chrysanthemums, peaches and herbs. Margarita was fiercely independent, made quick decisions, prayed constantly and taught her children to do the same. She was an excellent cook and baked pies, cookies and "pan dulce" on a regular basis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto de los Santos Pedraza; her parents, Pablo and Anita Hamilton Morales; her sisters, Josefina Madrid, Rosa Morales, Eva Maldonado; and her brothers, Pablo, Francisco, Raul, Juan, and Eduardo Morales. Margarita's survivors include her sister: Aurora Negrete; her children: Robert M.
