On Friday, June 15, 2018, Martha G. Munoz Esparza, beloved wife,
mother, daughter and sister, passed away suddenly at the age of 71
years. Daughter of Gabino and Mary Munoz, Martha was born in San
Antonio on April 14, 1947. Martha's high school sweetheart and husband
of 49 years, Richard A. Esparza, predeceased her in 2016. She was also
preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gabino. She will be
forever remembered by her two sons, Joseph and Mario Esparza, and her
daughters-in-law, Stephanie and Laura Esparza. She will be sorely
missed by her grandchildren, Catherine Raine and Michael Esparza.
Martha is survived by her brother Carlos Munoz, as well as her
sisters, Anna Garza, Dolores Baker, Esther Munoz, and Theresa Munoz.
Martha will be forever remembered by numerous nieces, nephews,
extended family and dear friends.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Martha graduated from Edgewood
High School in 1965. She was a good student and a Choir member. She
went back to college years later and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine
Arts Degree in English from the University of Texas at San Antonio in
1987. She taught English at William Howard Taft High School for
several years.

Martha loved to cook, travel, and was a voracious reader. She was an
adventurous spirit who was passionate in her beliefs and a steadfast
friend and confidant to those in need. She was known for her big heart
and her sense of humor. She did not know a stranger and would befriend
anyone she deemed worthy. In her later years, she was a member of the
Edgewood District Veterans and the CPA Auxiliary organization, in
which she had numerous friends. She was a staunch supporter of the
Sons of the Republic of Texas. She was a strong believer in family and
would set up or attend family reunions and reach out to relatives
regardless of distance.

A Rosary and Viewing will be held on Monday, June 25, 2018, at 7:00
p.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary at 1100 McCullough Ave., San Antonio,
Texas 78212.

A funeral mass will be held on June 26, 2018 at 9:00 a.m.
at the San Fernando Cathedral downtown with a funeral procession to
Fort Sam Houston, Texas at 10:30 a.m. Her final resting place will be
alongside her late husband, Richard A. Esparza.
