Obituary for Mr. Marvin Richard Jacobs

November 29, 1929 - April 5, 2018
Kyle, Texas | Age 88

Marvin Richard Jacobs, age 88, of San Antonio, passed away on Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Kyle, TX.
Marvin was born to Henry and Helen Jacobs on November 29, 1929 in Lakewood, Ohio. He left high school to join the United States Army and served in Japan from 1947 to 1950. Upon his return to the states, he completed his high school diploma and shortly after met Emi Maas, the love of his life. They were married in December of 1952.

Marvin and Emi Jacobs moved to Ada, Ohio, where he attended and graduated from the school of pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. Marvin and Emi partnered with his brother Alvin and sister-in-law Flora and established Fame Rexall Drug in Wickliffe, Ohio.

Marvin and Emi had three children and in 1975, they left the cold Ohio weather and moved their family to San Antonio, TX, where he worked as a pharmacist for Sommers Drug Store. Marvin continued to work for Sommers when it was purchased by Eckerds and later purchased by CVS. He retired as a pharmacist from CVS in 1999 and then worked as a part-time consultant for Caremark. Marvin had a genuine interest in his customers and enjoyed conversing with them.

In November of 2014, Marvin's beautiful wife of 61 years, Emi, passed away. He resided at Adante Senior Living until he moved to Kyle, TX in 2016 to be closer to family. He lived at Orchard Park of Kyle until his passing.

Marvin is loved and will be missed by many. He was a gentleman with a happy and friendly demeanor who was always interested in people and their story. Marvin volunteered for the Hebrew Free Loan Association of San Antonio. He was a devoted Cleveland Indians fan and was often seen wearing an Indians' cap. When growing up, he worked as a vendor at the Tribe's games.

Marvin is survived by his three children, Susan (David) Siegel, Bonni (Michael) Schwartz, Michael (Irma Covarrubias) Jacobs; grandchildren, Jeremy (Abril) Schwartz, Melody Schwartz, Jack (Charilyne) Siegel and Halley Siegel; great-grandchildren, Omar, Jacob, Isaac and Avram; sister, Audrey Kursman; sister-in-law Flora Jacobs; and nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at Agudas Achim Memorial Gardens, 1727Austin Hwy., San Antonio, TX 78218. Rabbi Jeffrey Abraham will officiate.

The Jacobs Family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Orchard Park of Kyle and Journey of Life Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.

Memorials in memory of Marvin's name may be made to the Hebrew Free Loan Association of San Antonio, PO Box 780264, San Antonio, TX 78278 or to a charity of your choice.
