Obituary

Mary Helen Black Dippo was born in Jersey Shore, PA, on May 4, 1925, the second youngest of ten children to William and Agnes Black. She later moved to Troy, NY, where she met the love of her life, William (Bill) G. Dippo. After he returned from fighting in WWII as a member of General Patton's Third Army, 11th Armored Division, they married at Fort Holibird, MD, on January 17, 1948.

Mary passed away peacefully on January 31st in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Dippo, her nine siblings and two grandchildren, Michelle Dippo and William Brooksbank.

Mary was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by five children and their spouses; Bill (Carolyn) Dippo, Barbara (Frank) Isom, Michael (Rhonda) Dippo, Ann (Norbert – deceased) Siep and Mary (Kenn) Brooksbank, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary and Bill moved to San Antonio in 1963 where he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston as an officer in the US Army. He retired a year later and the family moved to Windcrest where they lived for 48 years. Mary was a devoted mother that worked as a homemaker until the children were grown. Later she worked at Joske's and Dillard's Department Stores where all the children enjoying shopping and enjoying Mom's 25% discount, even in retirement.

Mary was an active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and the Windcrest Garden Club. Her retirement years were filled with RV trips with her husband, Bill, family and friends. They also enjoyed cruises and traveling to Europe to see their daughter, Ann.

Mom was a living example of what it means to be Christ-like. She was a beautiful soul that loved her family, friends and believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a blessing to all of us and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the chapel at Porter Loring on McCullough.
