Obituary

Our beloved "Nani" walked into the merciful hands of her Savior on October 19th and joined her love, Robert San Miguel Sr. once again. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Castillon Sr. And her brother Henry Castillon Jr.. Mary Louise is survived by her children: Gloria San Miguel Allen (Dave), Robert San Miguel (Mary), Sylvia Garza (Steve), Cindy San Miguel-Schaffer (Glenda). Grandchildren: Dr. Jennifer Allen Fordham (Jason), Robert Allen, Sarah San Miguel, Steven J. Garza, Ashley San Miguel, Adam Garza and Addison Louise San Miguel-Schaffer. Great grandchildren: AJ Fordham, Marshall Allen, Annabelle Fordham, and Brooks Allen. Mary Louise is also survived by her best friend and sister, Loretta Butcher, her sisters-in-law, Bell Ortiz, and Yolanda Korfanty, Marian Castillon, and countless adoring nieces and nephews.

Mary Louise was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson high School,
And in 1954, she married her high school sweet heart, Robert San Miguel. Together they raised four beautiful, loving children. After a short stint in the U.S. Army, Robert returned to work at the family business, La Botica Guadalupana, as proprietor. Meanwhile, Mary Louise centered her life around her husband and children. She thrived on their successes and lived for the dance performances of her daughter, Sylvia and Robert Jr.'s football games. As her children grew, she returned to TJHS, once more, as a member of the PTA and served as chairwoman on several committees.

Mary Louise considered being a grandmother, her greatest accolade and thought herself, grandmother to the most incredible grandkids ever! She was extremely proud of her grandchildren's achievements. She enjoyed most, her time spent with her precious little Addilou.

After Robert Sr.'s passing in 1997, Mary Louise took over the family business, La Botica Guadalupana, and worked countless hours making it the tourist capital of Market Square.

Mary Louise possessed an immense passion for music. She was a pianist, and in her youth, devoted her talent to her childhood church, St. Agnes.
She was an avid reader throughout her life, and enjoyed reading books of various genres. She also enjoyed attending book and poety readings, concerts and theater performances with friends and family.

• Our gratitude to the wonderful staff at Brookdale Hospice, Lincoln Heights, numerous doctors, and her dedicated and loving group of ladies: Adrianna Castañeda, Olivia Ramírez, Mari Corona y Rosa Lopez, who served consistently and faithfully by her side for the last five years of her life.

Mary Louise will be missed by many, but none so much as the doting family she leaves behind. We love you, your memory will live in our hearts forever and we will cling to your legacy of love and commitment to family, as the stronghold of all that you leave behind.
