Obituary for Melanie Gail Malone

February 10, 1956 - May 11, 2017
San Antonio, Texas | Age 61

Our beloved sister, Melanie Gail Malone, passed away at home in San Antonio, Texas on May 11, 2017 at the age of 61.

Melanie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Kenneth Denney and Ouida Ardell Van Wie Malone. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her brother and his wife, Kenneth L. and Cynthia A. Malone, and sister, Laura Gaye Malone, all of San Antonio; and nieces, their husbands and children; nephews; and many cherished former colleagues and friends.

Melanie was born in Clifton, Texas on February 10, 1956 and lived most of her life in San Antonio. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio in 1974 and went on to earn a degree from Wade's Fashion Merchandising College in Dallas. She worked for the United Services Automobile Association for 36 years before retiring in 2011, and held various positions in customer service, employee training, training development, project management, and policy service management.

Melanie was a champion of animals in need; she had many pet dogs through the years. Her current rescue dogs, Noodles and Squiggles, held a special place in her heart and provided her great comfort. She was an avid traveler and ardent shopper, both of which she enjoyed with friends, particularly her sister. She enjoyed jewelry making and other artistic pursuits and made and sold many beautiful pieces. She always enjoyed visiting with her former colleagues from USAA and other friends, and participating in her Bible Study groups. She was very active in the Alamo Ranch community since moving there in 2013, including in many clubs and Alamo Ranch Artists League, particularly in organizing and participating in its Annual Arts and Crafts Festival.
