Obituary

Michael (Mike) Lee Coyne passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of March 9, 2020 in San Antonio, TX at the age of 67. Michael is survived by his wife Julia Coyne, his daughter Jessica Coyne Bouyear, her husband Chris Bouyear and their daughters, Emma (4) and Elle (2). He is also survived by his brother Dr. Woody Coyne and niece Kim, his brother Craig Coyne, his sister Melissa (Missy) Rice and nephews Michael & Adam, as well as Adam's daughter Holly. He is preceded by his parents, Ret. Lt. Col. Clarence Coyne & Amanda Coyne, and his grandparents Alfred & Lela Coyne.

Michael was born on December 23, 1952 in Yokohama, Japan (two minutes earlier than his twin sister, Missy, which he will never let her forget). He lived in numerous parts of the world until his dad retired from the army and the family moved to Nacogdoches, TX, where he graduated from high school and was voted "Cutest". Although he would never mention this, and would have much preferred "Most Handsome", Missy will never let anyone forget. It was also during high school that Michael honed in on his billiard skills, winning a pool tournament at SFA before he was disqualified when it was discovered he was still in high school.

Eventually Michael did attend Stephen F. Austin State University where he was a member of the PIKE fraternity before moving on to the University of Houston and graduating with a degree in Business. He had his daughter Jessica, who became the most important part of his life, and he lived a very full life on his own terms, playing golf, traveling the world, living in San Francisco before moving back to Texas and meeting the love of his life, Julia.

Julia & Michael settled in Fair Oaks Ranch, TX where they shared a love for gardening and continued to travel. Michael was the life of the party and saw the beauty in everything. He was selfless and kind, and had a magnetic energy. He was an incredible husband, father and grandfather and would want to be celebrated instead of mourned.
