Obituary

Mike G Harris came home to God on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

He was born in Germany on August 15, 1959 as an Air Force "brat". Shortly after, the family moved to Austin, Texas and then again to San Antonio in 1968 when he was only a boy. He was a 1978 graduate of Marshall High School and proudly served his country in the Air Force. Later on, his career in Civil Service took him from the Bexar County Tax Office, the Elections Department and, finally, to Bexar County Information Services as a programmer. He was retired but worked part time at the Craftiques Mall on NW Military and helped his wife with her antiques business. He also volunteered at the SaddleLight Therapeutic Horsemanship center on Sunday mornings. He was a cancer survivor.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Hazel Harris; and his brother Roy Harris.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Becky Jones; his son, Travis Harris (aged 18); his step-daughter and her husband, Halley and Jake Lunderman; his step-son , Michael Jones; and his brother and his wife, Wayne and Glenda Harris.

He will be remembered as a kind, gentle, generous man who was handy to have around. He enjoyed coin collecting, building cabinets, reading, country music, and being with family. He was deeply patriotic and dearly loved his country and his flag.

A Memorial Service was held on May 15, 2017 at the home of Halley and Jake Lunderman. It was attended by many friends and family, a testament to his impact.

He will be cremated per his wishes and will find his final resting place at Fort Sam Houston at a date yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a favorite charity; particularly, cancer research, substance abuse causes, veteran's causes, and suicide prevention.

May he REST IN ENTERNAL PEACE.

God's grace is greater than all of your sin. His peace is greater than the storm you're in. -- John Wayne
