Obituary for Nelly Watson

June 3, 1974 - May 1, 2017
San Antonio, Texas | Age 42

the love of my life, mother of our children, and pets

On May 1, 2017, the love of my life, mother of our children, and pets passed away surrounded by family at the age of 42. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 3, 1974.

Nelly married Dennis A. Watson on April 30, 1991. She was immediately thrown into the fire of being a serviceman's wife and mother. One year into their marriage she was alone for six months to do it all. She strapped in and took charge. This became one of the defining moments of her life. She grew ten years in that short time, trust me I know, I found out things were different when I returned. There was a new alpha in town and it was not me. She ran a tight ship for those eight years; the foundation which our marriage was built.

Nelly led a busy life, but her family was the center of her attention. She was a devoted mother to two of the greatest people on earth. She was the soccer mom, homework czar, and school trip chaperone; she kept the family active and on the go.
Nelly had a passion for animals. She loved her furries like they were her kids. She arranged birthday parties and park visits. She would even take her little puppy to daycare so he would not be home alone.
Nelly spent most of her working years in Human Resources. She started her first front desk position at MCRD in San Diego from 1995 through 1998. There she gained a solid based of experience and knowledge. This led to her hiring at Goodwill Industries after relocation. She started as a recruiter and rose to Director of HR. She helped Goodwill through its largest growth periods before leaving in 2013. Her success was driven by the selfless desire to serve the company and its people.

Nelly was preceded in death by her stepfather Renato Renteria, father-in-law Dennis J. Watson, and her beloved pets Riley, Baxter, and Tenshi Watson. She is survived by her husband of twenty-six years Dennis A. Watson, her sons Zachary and Addison, her pets Sterling, Quinn, Kiyoshi, Mika, her mother Leticia Renteria, sisters Nancy and Ashley, brothers Victor and Daniel, mother-in-law Maria Watson, sister-in-law Lisa and Juan Casso, nieces Cristina, Brianna, Adrianna, Addison, and Adelina and numerous other family and friends.

My Love taken too soon, you were the light of my life. Your gift of love and friendship was given without condition. We beat the odds… us against the world. We were each other's soul mate. How do you get that right on the first try? I can only say I was the lucky one, the one with a lifetime of love in a fraction of my life. My sweet pea, my love, my heart aches, my life in turmoil, I will miss you with every sunrise and sunset. I will survive with your love and memories of better life with you.
