Obituary

Pearl Nadler Gossen died peacefully at her home on June 16, 2020, in San Antonio, 91 years young.

Born in Sioux City, Iowa, to Fannie and Solomon "Joe" Nadler, she was the youngest of 5 siblings. When her mother passed away, she came to San Antonio to live with her sister, Toby Nadler Gossen, and married her "one and only" Jake Gossen in 1948.

"Honey," as she was known to her grandchildren and the majority of the community, will be fondly remembered in so many ways. Her kindness and concern for others is what captured Jake's heart. The twinkle in her eyes and her engaging personality drew people into her life. She possessed a certain joie de vivre - such a zest for life! She was a phenomenal cook - feeding people gave her such joy. She loved to entertain and never wanted to miss a party! She was elegance defined and simply wonderful.

Pearl served as President of the Golden Manor Auxiliary, of which she was so proud. She was honored by the Blue Bird Auxiliary at the Methodist Hospital for her decades of service. She loved her Aerobics Class at the JCC, where she participated for over 40 years and created dear friendships. She was also active in the Agudas Achim Sisterhood and was a Lifetime Member of Hadassah.

Honey's most precious accomplishment was the legacy of family that she and Jake created together. Her devotion to raising her children in an observant Jewish home will persevere for the generations which follow. Honey will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter Faye Tawil and husband, Aaron, son Dr. Gary Gossen and wife, Fonda, and daughter Mindy Eisen and husband, Jay, as well as her devoted grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pearl is preceded in death by her husband, Jake, and son, Steven Gossen. She is also preceded by her loving companion, Marvin Miller.

Our family wishes to thank Lydia Medina and Alice Frimpong for the thoughtful and gentle care provided to Honey. Thank you also to the staff at Helping Our Seniors.

Services for Pearl Gossen will be Wednesday, June 17, at 2:00 PM at Porter Loring, 1101 McCullough, with burial to follow at Agudas Achim Cemetery. Please observe social distancing guidelines.
