Obituary

Pedro "Pete" Cazares CWO3, of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, after a valiant struggle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. Pedro was born on August 28, 1944, in McAllen, Texas to Julio and Maria Lopez Cazares. Pedro's wife Amelia Salinas Cazares predeceased him in 2002. He met his present wife, Lily Porter Cazares in 2003 while both attended St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.

Pedro was drafted into the Army in 1965 and was proud of his involvement in the Nike-Hercules missile program. After serving his draft duty, Pedro achieved Chief Warrant Officer 3 designation while in the Army Reserves. During his time in the Reserves, Pedro was called up to serve in Desert Storm where he was injured during a Scud Attack.

Equipped with only a GED and working full time, Pedro returned to school and achieved his Associate in Applied Science degree at St. Philips College in 1977. Pete continued that quest for upgrading his skills by attending every available course in both his Military career and his civil service work at Ft. Sam Houston. After 33 years at Ft. Sam Houston, with 18 years as a Supervisor, Pedro retired with plans to travel and enjoy hunting at his ranch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jose Cazares. Pedro is survived by his spouse, Lily Cazares; daughter, Patricia Michelle Cazares; sisters, Sylvia Mata of McAllen, Janie Espinoza (Jesse) of Crookston, MN, Rosa Alvarez (Lalo) of Hammond, IN and Manuela "Mandy" Bulleri (John) of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Julio Casares (Petra) of Edinburg, TX, and Noe Casares (Deborah) of New Albany, IN.

Pedro will be remembered by friends, co-workers, even strangers as "Pete", a faithful, honest, and generous friend, first to offer help and ready to talk about the 6-pointer buck he would bring home on his next trip to the ranch.

May we serve God with fidelity and generosity until death. Help us and our loved ones to attain the boundless joy of being forever with our Father in Heaven.

Visitation will begin at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Porter Loring on McCullough.
