Obituary

Perry A. Schoultz was called home to be with Our Heavenly Father on March 11, 2019. Perry was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 28, 1931. He was 87 years old at the time of his passing. He was the son of James Theodore Schoultz and Myrtle Ivy Perry, both deceased. He was blessed with one sibling, an older brother, James Schoultz, also deceased.

Perry graduated high school in 1948 at the age of 17 and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. He served four years, spending most of his time aboard submarines. Afterward, Perry enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin and earned his engineering degree in 1958. He had a successful engineering career and worked for some of the top companies in the USA, but his most remarkable position was as a guidance and control systems engineer at the Space Division of North American Rockwell Corporation in Cocoa Beach, Fla. He helped test the guidance and control systems for the spacecraft used for the first manned Apollo flight and was part of the launch crew, making checks on the systems up to the moment of the launch. He was responsible for checking out the control systems of all Apollo command and service modules sent to Cape Kennedy Launch.

After moving back to San Antonio, Texas and working in Civil Service, he retired and started his own company, and worked for many years until late in his life.

On June 18, 1994, Perry married the love of is life, Frances Maxwell. They were devoted to each other for 24 years, enjoying church and their families.

Perry is remembered by his three sons, Russell Scott Schoultz, Steve A. Schoultz, and Paul T. Schoultz and wife Denise; his daughter, Jennifer L. Schoultz; and his stepdaughter, Karrie L. Morris. He is also remembered by his sister-in-law, June Schoultz, and his nieces Teri Vivian and her husband Johnny, and Donna Knigge and her husband Dennis.

Perry was blessed with eight grandchildren, Olivia Bergen and her husband Michael, Eric Schoultz and his wife Niki, Sean Morris and his wife Christi, Shane Morris and his wife Aubree, Crystal Cebulla, Kristen Schoultz, Carlie Schoultz, and Stephanie Bolding. Perry's legacy extends to nine great grandchildren: Darla, Leif, Wolf, River, Chrystina, Jacob, Hailey, Lyncoln, and a boy yet to be born.

Perry enjoyed celebrating life with family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and swimmer who loved being in and on the water. He was a lifelong member of the Texas Exes, and he was a season football ticket holder and attended many games at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX.

Perry and Frances are founding members of The Fellowship of San Antonio, and Perry later served as a deacon of the church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2019, at Porter Loring Mortuary North
