The Faith and Life of Phyllis Neumann

The soul of Phyllis Jean Bateman Neumann entered the gates of heaven on Thursday morning January 4, 2018.

Phyllis Jean Bateman Neumann was born on June 13, 1930 in El Paso Texas, to Ralph Lowell Bateman and Meta Ormsbee Bateman, she spent most her youth as a resident of Mexico. After the death of her mother when she was 14 she moved to Texas to live with an aunt and uncle to finish her schooling.
She graduated with her bachelor's degree in education from The University of Texas in Austin and went on to teach Spanish and French. Later she received her Master's degree from Texas Tech.

In May 1953 she met the love of her life, Donald Neumann at the USO in El Paso, set up by her brother Bud. On July 11, 1953 they married in Las Cruces NM, and Don left for the Korean war. From 1954 to 1961 they added 4 more children and various moves around the world.

Phyllis spent over 30 years teaching students in French and Spanish, retiring from teaching when she and Don joined the mission field and moved to Panama. They spent 7 years in Panama and moved back to Texas settling in Harlingen TX.

In 2015 she and Don moved to San Antonio, retiring from the mission field. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before his death in 2016.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her mother Meta Bateman, her father Ralph Bateman, brother Ralph Bateman Jr, step mother Anice Bateman.

She leaves behind her daughters, Terry Felux (husband Bob) and Kay McInnes (husband Mac) She also had three sons, Loring Neumann (wife Trude), Paul Neumann (wife Laura) and Michael Neumann Sr.. 15 grandchildren, Garrett Felux (wife Sage), Laura Clark (husband Bradley), Tender Dear (husband Adam), Samantha Scheider (husband Brendan), Daniel McInnes, Elisa McInnes, Phillip Neumann, Rebekah Slider (husband Jonathan), Sarah Richmond (husband Jay), Jessie Vazquez (husband Jonathan), Timothy Neumann, Lacey Neumann, Andrew Neumann, Stephanie Schiefer (husband Calvin) Michael Neumann Jr., and 14 great-grandchildren. She leaves her sister Sue Crawford (husband Guy) and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Morningside Ministries in Boerne the Cibolo House for their compassionate care for mom these last 18 months, and Heart to Heart Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 East. A Service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, 10:00 am, at Crown of Life Lutheran Church, 19291 Stone Oak Pkwy.

Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.
