Obituary

Ramon Quiroz of San Antonio left for his eternal rest on January 24th, 2019. Born April 27th, 1926 to Santiago and Francis Quiroz, Ramon was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished his time with his family and friends, his many reasons for living a meaningful and wondrous life.

A veteran of World War II, Ramon was stationed in the Pacific, spending most of his time in the Philippines under General MacArthur, and earning two Bronze Service Stars for heroic achievements. Upon returning to civilian life, Ramon chose to settle down in San Antonio, Texas, his birthplace and home. A devout catholic, Ramon shared his life with his loving wife Ruth for over 65 years, bringing a daughter, Linda, into their lives. During this time Ramon worked at H-E-B, eventually retiring after 30 years of service. It was through H-E-B and the Gary Sinise foundation that he would later be given the honor to visit the WWII museum in New Orleans, to honor those he fought with, and remembered.

Ramon and Ruth cherished their time with their daughter, and their many friends and family throughout the years. Ramon is survived by his daughter and her fiance Linda Solis and Richard Gawlik; his brother and sister Jesus Quiroz, Mary Helen Ford; his grandsons Stephen Solis, Andrew Solis, and Christopher Solis; his great-granddaughter, Ella Connelly-Solis; ex son-in-law, Ruben J. Solis; sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the 3rd floor nurses and PCAs of Metropolitan Methodist Hospital and the workers of Vitas Hospice for their loving care; to the numerous family and friends that visited him and a special thanks to his nephew for spending time with him every other weekend. May he rest in peace.

Visitation begins at 5pm on Sun., Feb. 3, 2019 with a Rosary at 7pm at Porter Loring on McCullough. On Mon., Feb. 4, 2019 a procession from Porter Loring will depart at 8:30am to St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston.
