Obituary

Ray was born at Ladd AFB near Fairbanks, Alaska. He was diagnosed with Goldenhar Syndrome. He couldn't walk or talk and his left eye and ear did not fully develop. He had mental deficiencies and had to be taken care of all his life. His parents decided they would give him the best life they could. His father was career Air force. After Ray was born they moved to Schertz, TX, Sacramento, CA, Hickam AFB, Hawaii then to Fort Worth, TX and retired in San Antonio, TX in 1968. They included Ray in Family activities and did give him a good life. Ray went to what was then The Cerebral Palsy School in the Medical center from 1968 to 1974. He learned to read, write some and do basic math which enhanced his life even more. Ray enjoyed watching TV, especially sports, listening to the radio and just looking out the front window. His wonderful parents Ernest and Ruby Whitworth took care of him as long as they were able, then Mendoza Assisted Living cared for him for the last 5 years of his life. Ray had a lot of doctors, medical procedures and hospital staff throughout his life. This increased over the last 2 years and finally overcame him. We believe his spirt and soul are now united with God and his parents. His worldly struggles are over. He is survived by a brother, Ernest E. Whitworth Jr. and several aunts, uncles and cousins in other states.
