Obituary

Raymond Aguillon, born April 3, 1932 in San Antonio, TX, went to be with our Lord on August 1, 2019 at the age of 87. Raymond Aguillon, "Copper" was a long-time employee of the San Antonio Country Club working there for 57 years prior to his retirement in 2005. He was an avid golfer and a member of various golf associations in San Antonio. His primary passion was playing golf for the Pan American Golf Association where he was a lifetime member for over 62 years. He was inducted into the PAGA Hall of Fame in 1993 for his many achievements, one being a five-time champion of the annual state tournament – an accomplishment not equaled by any other member. He was a member of eight PAGA Four-Man Team champions, and many local Club Champion Titles. Another of his many accolades includes winning Low Amateur of the Texas Open twice, once at Brackenridge Golf Course on February 2, 1959. His trophy for this win is currently displayed at the Brackenridge Park historic golf course. He holds many golf course records across San Antonio, including a record at Willow Springs Golf Course for shooting an 11-under par 60 on November 17th 1968. At Brackenridge Golf Course, he holds a record for shooting a 28 on the back nine on April 17, 1987. In 2004, he was recognized by the Latinos In Action Sports Association for his outstanding athletic accomplishments and contributions to the Hispanic community. He and his 6 brothers were an annual fixture at the San Antonio City Amateur Golf Tournament, where he was runner-up 4 times after leading going into the final round. He took great pride in the game of golf and reared his family while working hard to perfect his game. Golf was not just a sport, but a way of life. It was a career and not just for leisure. He always felt compelled to share his gift with many others and took pride in sharing his experiences with junior golfers. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, his wife of over 40 years who passed in 1990 and his 8 children who he was a loving and supportive father to. He exuded the same love and support to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who admired him greatly. He loved being around family and friends, having grown up with 6 brothers, 3 sisters and numerous cousins. He was a positive light that was infectious to others and inspired you to be the best you could be.

Raymond Aguillon is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Aguillon; his daughter, Eleanor Aguillon; his parents, Elijio and Julia Aguillon; and his brother, Andrew Aguillon. He is survived by his sons, Raymond Jr. and Michael (Elaine); his daughters Linda, Theresa (Roland), Julia (GW), Betty (Tony), Juanita (Jerry); his brothers, John, Jesse, Eliseo, Elijio, and Jimmy; his sisters, Adela, Juana, and Elida; his grandchildren, Thomas (Melissa), Rolie (Andri), Jason (Crystal), Patrick (Nichole), Jessica (David), Sasha, Matthew (Monique), Kristin, Delila, Roxanne (David), Erin, Karissa, and Emma; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Karina, Gilbert, Dominic, Alexa, Alaina, Abbey, Devin, Marcus, Destiny, Eli, Ethan, Holly, Jaydah, Madison, Julian, Scarlett, Gavin, Audrina, Makayla, Jake, Krystina, Leonidas, Daniella, and Christopher.
