RICHARD E. DURAN
February 7, 1929 – February 21, 2018

Richard Encarnacion Duran, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in San Antonio to parents Ciro and Anastasia Duran. Richard was a WW11 veteran and served in the United States Marine Corp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After four years of service, he returned to San Antonio and met and married the Love of his life, Guadalupe Granado. He retired from Kelly AFB after thirty-seven years of civil service, and started as an apprentice advancing his career in several fields. Richard was a master electrician and owner of Quality Electric Company. He attended and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Southwest Texas State University. He served as the CYO President for St. Mary Magdalen and the CYO softball coach, festival president and lector at St. Joseph's of Honey Creek. Richard was also an avid bowler and author who loved to spend time fishing and traveling with his family. He is preceded in death by parents Ciro and Anastasia Duran; step-father Luis Martinez; wife of 63 years Guadalupe Duran; daughter Nancy Susan Duran; son-in-law Ralph Rogers; grandsons Carlos and Adam Alonso. Richard is survived by sons Richard L. Duran and wife Mary, Robert A. Duran and wife Melissa; daughters Martha Duran, Mary Guadalupe Campos and husband Gilbert, Norma Rogers, Jenny D. Nugent and husband Gene, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6:00pm to 7:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary.
