Robert Alan Karam went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2018. He was born on December 6, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas. His education began at St. Paul Parochial School, he graduated from Central Catholic High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Mary's University. While in college, he was elected Vice President of the St. Mary's University Student Council. Robert worked in his family business, Consolidated Produce Company, where he served as Vice President. Later he worked with his brother in Bar Staff Management. Robert displayed strong leadership traits at an early age. When he was 18 years old, he gathered a group of his friends and cousins and formed the Ameleb Club with the purpose of promoting culture and fellowship among the American Lebanese youth. Through his leadership and role as President, the club is strong and celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. As a visionary, Robert continued to further the mission of this organization by completing the arduous process of establishing the Ameleb Heritage Foundation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to charity, heritage, culture, and scholarship. From his youth, Robert was a dedicated member and supporter of St. George Maronite Catholic Church. He worked diligently, giving his time, talent, and support to benefit the parish and served as Church Council President. He served on the Board of the National Apostolate of Maronites (NAM) and maintained his life membership. Due to his work with St. George and NAM, he was awarded the Massabki Silver Medal. He served as Chairman of the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs July Convention in 1987. He was elected "Man of the Year" and was presented the Chairman's Choice Award in 1987, and the President's Choice Award in 2014. He recently served on the Board of Directors of this organization from 2015-2018. Robert was a member of the Order of St. Sharbel and the Sunrise Rotary Club.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Solomon J. Karam, Sr.; his brothers, Solomon J. Karam, Jr. and Ralph Joseph Karam. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Karam; his daughters, Cyndi Thompson and Kristin Steen and their husbands, Darrell Thompson and William Steen; his grandchildren, Lauren and Jared Thompson and Jaden and William (Liam) Steen; his mother, Azizi Mery Karam; his sisters, Jeanette Van Delden and Mary Ann Karam; his brother, Patrick Karam and his wife, AnnMarie Karam, and his sister-in-law, Ann Karam.

All services will be at St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6070 Babcock Road. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m., and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 26 followed by burial at Mission Park Dominion.
