March 5, 1937 - July 5, 2020
San Antonio, Texas | Age 83

Robert "Bob" Florian Cuny, 83, of San Antonio, Texas passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020. Born March 5, 1937 in San Antonio, to Robert and Agnes Cuny, Bob was the oldest of 6 children and from an early age, was driven by curiosity, a passion for nature, and a love for home and family.

In the early 1950's he spent time working for Nagel's Gun Shop and the San Antonio Zoo, eventually leaving to serve in the United States Coast Guard.

On April 15, 1966 he married Katherine "Sue" Gerbic, his beloved companion. Together they travelled cross country, camping in Alaska, ultimately returning to Texas to begin his career in the automotive equipment industry. Throughout the 1970's he gained success as a representative for Ammco in Lubbock and El Paso, eventually settling back in San Antonio, to raise a family and become a Certified Business Owner with Coats Ammco. He retired in 2011.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, and shared many trips to South Texas and Mexico with his brothers, friends and colleagues.

Later enjoying more simple pleasures like road trips to see wildflowers, every ice cream flavor, a good whiskey or cold beer, bird watching on the back porch, a long book, classical music, Opera, and as many Westerns as he could watch in a day. He loved his role as "Opa" to his three grandchildren and delighted in being a partner in mischief.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 54 years; Children Robert "Chris" (Mimi) Cuny , and Chana (Eric) Floyd and grandchildren Harper, Hazel and Robbie; as well as his siblings Terry (Laureta) Cuny , Kathy Miller , Larry (Peggy) Cuny, Ed (Margaret) Cuny , Lynn Cuny (Craig Brestrup); and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was a man of few words, with a smile that most were drawn to, and a laugh that could fill a room.

Best remembered by Sue's favorite passage:

"A Litany of Remembrance"
"In the rising of the sun and its going down,
We remember them;
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of the winter,
We remember them;
In the opening of buds and in the warmth of summer,
We remember them;
In the rustling of leaves and the beauty of autumn,
We remember them;
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them;
When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them;
When we are lost and sick at heart,
We remember them;
When we have joys we yearn to share,
We remember them;
So long as we live, they too shall live
For they are now a part of us as
We remember them."

A celebration of life will be announced by the family at a later date.
