Robert "Bob" Kolb was born on September 3, 1932, in Accident, Maryland to Elmer Louis Kolb and Marie Dorothy (Harman) Kolb. he departed this life on July 4, 2020 to join his wife, Mary Alene Kolb, and other loved ones that had gone before him. He made the world a better place for 87 years.

Bob left Accident, Maryland in 1949 to begin his Air Force career in San Antonio, Texas. Shortly after, he met Mary Alene Staples at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. They were married on August 29, 1952 and made their home in San Antonio, Texas for 26 years. They raised four wonderful children in San Antonio before they moved "out to the country" in Floresville, Texas in 1978. Bob and Mary lived a blessed life together for 62 years before her death in 2014.

In the Air Force, Bob completed an apprenticeship and became an airplane mechanic. He went into the Air Force reserves where he attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He worked Civil Service as an Airplane Crash Investigator. He was a veteran of the Korean war and was recalled during the Pueblo Crisis to coordinate and dispatch military aircraft around the world.

Bob was a much loved and respected member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was active on the Board of Elders, assisting with various committees, and volunteering at the St. Paul Thrift Store. He believed in sharing his faith with those he met and frequently would invite others to attend church.

His greatest legacy, however, was his love for all people and his ability to see the good in people. He was truly kind, generous, and loved to take care of everyone around him. He considered his friends his family and demonstrated the Love of Christ to all those he met.

Bob is preceded in death by his wife of over 62 years, Mary his daughter Karolyn Kolb Martinez, his daughter-in-law, Dena Douglas Kolb, grandchild Samuel Dunaway, great-grandchild Riley Kinn, and his brother Willam Kolb. He is survived by his brother John Kolb, and children Kathy Shorter, Karen Birt, Robert Alan Kolb, and son-in-law Ricardo Martinez. Bob was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by all that had the privilege of calling him "Friend". Visitation will be on Friday, July 10, from 4pm to 6pm at Porter Loring on McCullough. Memorial services will be on Saturday July 11 at 10am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Private interment will be at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at a future date.
