ROBERT LEWIS HORTON
January 4, 1940 – February 20, 2018

Mr. Robert Lewis Horton known to many as, "Bob" age 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. Bob was born in Indianapolis, IN on January 4, 1940 where he attended Elementary school at Public 82, and graduated in January of 1958 from Howe Highschool. He majored in History at Butler University where he completed four years of Air Force R.O.T.C. serving as a Cadet Commander.
After college, he served three years of active duty in the Air Force where he was assigned as Base Postal Officer at Lackland Air Force Base. He was then promoted to Squadron Commander and was in charge of about four hundred men. After serving, he worked for several insurance companies as a sales representative and chartered life underwriter, including: the Aetna Life Insurance Company, New England Mutual Life, and USAA Life Insurance company where he spent nineteen years.
After his retirement from USAA in the early 90's, Bob enjoyed playing Tennis, a sport that his father got him involved in when he was in junior high. He won many local, state, and national tennis championships. He just loved the game so much and made many wonderful friends throughout the years. His other passion was playing Bridge, he was a master bridge player. Bob is famous for saying, "Three No Trump". He and his wife Mary Ann loved to travel. They have taken many cruises and vacations throughout their thirty-two years of marriage. He so loved their little dog, Kyra.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lewis and Anna Prinz Horton of Indiana. Bob is survived by his loving wife Mary Ann Mancini Horton; brother-in-law, John Mancini and spouse Monte; niece Laura Wernli and spouse Paul; sister Ruth Ann Russell; niece Mary Ann Russell of Indiana. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25th from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North

Msgr. Ragsdale will officiate. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Then a celebration of his life with a reception at Roseheart Clubhouse at 59 Roseheart. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
