Obituary

Beloved Father and Papa Ret. Colonel Robert Stephen Ainslie went to be with his Lord on September 17, 2019 at 80 years old.
Col. Ainslie was born March 19, 1939 to William and Florence Ainslie of New Jersey where he was raised with his brothers George, Bill, and Larry. He joined the Air Force in November of 1957 and was stationed to Germany in April 1958 where he met and fell deeply for the love of his life Heidi. Together they raised their three wonderful children.
Col. Ainslie spent 35 years in the Air Force where he served as Chief of Police at 4 separate Air Force bases. He bravely served combat tours in the Vietnam and Iraq Wars for which he was awarded: The Purple Heart, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with V for Valor, and Meritorious Service Medals with 4 bronze oak leaf clusters. He was proud of the 28 countries he was able to visit over his distinguished career but was even more proud of his title as Husband, Father, and Papa. Family meant everything to him. His cup overflowed with annual family vacations encompassing all four generations as well as a weekly family night where he notoriously showed up with pockets full of chocolates for the little ones.
Col. Ainslie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Heidi; his children and their spouses, Robert (Bob) and Dawn, Gary and Bibiana, Sandy and Rick. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren, Micheyl, Sean, Robert (Bobby), Joshua, Justin, Jared, Megan, Emma, Noah, Michael, and Daniel; six great grandchildren, Riley, Gage, Mabry, Raelyn, and Brooklyn and Eva; and his brother, Larry and his wife Debbie.
He set an example for his entire family to follow which they will carry with them always.
